1448 Cassiope tetragona (L.) Don

This species is arctic in N. Europe and Greenland, for the rest also subarctic and montane. In northwestern N. America subsp. saximontana (Small) Pors. is distinguished. The species s. str. (subsp. tetragona) belongs to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 26 and map 17).
