1404 Silaum silaus (L.) Schinz & Thell.

This variable species is restricted to Europe. It includes here the slightly aberrant S. alpestre (L.) Thell. The range of the closely related S. besseri DC. (included in S. silaus in Fl. Eur. 2/1968, p. 342) is tentatively drawn on the map. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 315.
