Syn.: Pseudolysimachium spicatum (L.) Opiz

This polymorphic species is restricted to Europe and W. Asia. Five subspecies are distinguished in Europe (Fl. Eur. 3/1972, p. 251), of which subsp. spicata reaches westwards and northwards into Fennoscandia and subsp. orchidea (Crantz) Hayek occurs in C. and SE. Europe and C. Asia (mapped tentatively here). Totally the species shows a continental pattern of distribution.
