1848 Senecio vulgaris L.

This common species is considered to originate from parts of Europe and W. Asia but has spread widely as a weed with agriculture and communications almost all over the world. It belongs today to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 226 and map 218).
