Syn.: Satureja acinos (L.) Scheele

This mainly Eurasiatic species is considered to originate from S. Europe. From there it has spread and become naturalized in most of Europe. It has also been introduced into N. America. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 382.
