1260 Oxalis acetosella L.

This species s. lat. occurs in most of Europe and large parts of Asia. Some closely related taxa, int. al. griffithii Hook. f. & Edgew. (syn.: O. acetosella var. japonica [Franch. & Sav.] Makino), in E. and SE. Asia, O. oregana Nutt. in western N. America and O. montana Raf. in eastern N. America is also mapped. Taking the last-mentioned taxon into consideration, O. acetosella may be considered to belong to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 146 and map 127).
