Within this intricate genus two species are clearly distinguished according to Fl. Eur. 1/1964, p. 307, viz. S. podolica (Bess.) Andrz. in W. Ukraine, Moldavia and NE. Romania and S. doerfleri (Wettst.) Bornm. in SE. Jugoslavia and Asia Minor. Further, some species, closely related to S. doerfleri, are described from E. European Russia (three species) and S.C. Russia and NE. Ukraine (S. mutabilis [Alex.] Alex.); cf. Fl. Eur. I. cit. They are not marked separately on the map.
