This species is widely, somewhat disjunctly distributed in Eurasia and N. America. As for N. Europe, it occurs only in the northeasternmost part. Totally it shows a tendency towards circumpolar distribution. There is, however, a large gap from E. America to N. Russia. Consequently, it is not recorded in Hultén, Circumpol. I.
