The map shows the total ranges of the boreal taxa belonging to this complex. For the arctic-montane taxa see no. 823. Mapped are subsp. palustris in Eurasia and N. America and, tentatively, subsp. membranacea (Turcz.) Hult. in E. Asia, several other subspecies in the C. and SE. Asiatic mountains and the closely related species C. fistulosa Schipcz. on S. Sakhalin and in N. Japan. The taxa mentioned above and in the following no. 823 have all together a circumpolar distribution (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 84, 337 f. and maps 75 and 76).
