1540 Lithospermum arvense L.

Syn.: Buglossoides arvensis (L.) I. M. Johnst.

Within this polymorphic species F l. Eur. 3/1972, p. 87 distinguishes four subspecies, for instance subsp. gasparrinii (Heldr.) Fernandes, S of the line on the map. The species is considered to originate from SE. Europe and W. Asia but has spread with agriculture far beyond this area, for instance to N. Europe, S. Africa, N. and S.
