661 Rumex acetosa L. subsp. alpestris (Scop.) Löve

Syn.: R. acetosa L. subsp. lapponicus Hiit.

This arctic-montane subspecies here includes R. arifolius All. It has a disjunctly circumpolar distribution (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 298 and map 290). It should be noted that Atlas Fl. Eur. 4/1980, map 436, distinguishes the montane, C. and S. European population as subsp. lapponicus (Hiit.) Jalas, both being subspecies of R. alpestris Jacq. Further, the map tentatively shows the distribution of the Siberian, arctic subsp. pseudoxyria Tolm. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 128.
