Syn.: Gentianella campestris (L.) Börn. subsp. campestris

This subspecies occurs in N. and NW. Europe and the C. and S. European mountains. The map may be incomplete, especially as to the C. European distribution. The population on Iceland is distinguished as subsp. islandica (Murb.) Vollm., more likely a montane variant of subsp. campestris (Fl. Eur. 3/1972, p. 65). For subsp. baltica see no. 1504.
