This arctic species belongs to the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 182 and map 163; cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 406). The isolated occurrence of the closely related, rare P. albertae Hult. in W. Canada is also marked on the map.
