This calciphilous species occurs mainly in C. Europe, partly in coastal fens, and infrequently in Siberia and also in N. America, mainly in the eastern part. It may be extinct in several localities. The species is reported among the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 60 and map 41). In S. Sakhalin a closely related species, L. sachalinensis Nakai, occurs circle on the map).
