1244 Trifolium arvense L.

This polymorphic species (cf. Fl. Eur. 2/1968, p. 167) was originally restricted to Europe and adjacent parts of Africa and Asia. It is spread by man in open spaces. The northernmost occurrences are only casual. It has been introduced and partly naturalized in S. Africa, N. Arnerica, S. Australia and New Zealand. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 238.
