Salix hastata
611 Salix hastata L.
This mainly arctic-montane species occurs in Eurasia and northwestern N. America. In this area subsp. vegeta Anderss. (southern parts of the European distribution), subsp. subintegrifolia Flod. (northern parts of the total range) and S. apoda Trautv. (Caucasus) are included. S. karelinii Turcz. ex Stschegl. (syn.: S. hastata var. himalayensis Anderss.) with a montane occurrence connected to the range of the Asiatic S. hastata is marked separately (broken line). In N. America the closely related S. farrae Ball occurs, mainly in the Rocky Mts. (cf., however, Porsild and Cody 1980, p. 230 and map 411). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 115.
