1778 Filago vulgaris Lam.

Syn.: F. germanica L., non Huds.

This species occurs as a native plant in W., C., S. and SE. Europe and adjacent parts of Africa and Asia. It has been favoured by the clearing of dry, sandy ground. It is adventive (and probably extinct) in the northernmost localities. It has been introduced into N. America. Approximately S of the line on the map the closely related F. eriocephala Guss. dominates.
