1734 Viburnum opulus L.

This Eurasiatic species is restricted to Europe and W. Asia. The population in E. Asia is described as var. calvescens (Rehd.) Rara. The counterpart in N. America is subsp. trilobum (Marsh.) Hult. (V. trilobum Marsh.; cf. Fernald, Manual 1950, p. 1341). Including this taxon, the species belongs to the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 74 and map 55).
