Carex norvegica
Mer information om arten

487 Carex norvegica Retz.

Syn.: C. alpina Sw.; C. halleri auctt.

This arctic-montane species s. lat. is disjunctly distributed in Eurasia and N. America. Besides C. norvegica s. str. (subsp. norvegica), occurring in N. and C. Europe and on S. Greenland, two subspecies are distinguished by Kalela (Ann. Bot. Soc. Zool. Bot. Fenn. Vanamo 19:3/1944, p. 114 ff.), viz. subsp. inserrulata Kalela in eastern N. America and on Greenland and subsp. conicorostrata Kalela in eastemmost Siberia. The species s. lat. (as also subsp. norvegica) belongs to the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 92 and map 74). The closely related C. media R. Br. (syn.: C. angarae Steud.; C. norvegica Retz. subsp. inferalpina [Wahlenb.] Hult.) is mapped separately (no. 488). It may be pointed out that the taxonomy and nomenclature of these species and related taxa do not yet seem to be sufficiently settled. For that reason, the maps 487 and 488 must be regarded as preliminary. See also maps in Meusel et al. 1965, p. 71.
