1739 Valerianella locusta (L.) Lat.

This variable species occurs in W., C. and SE. Europe and adjacent parts of Africa and Asia. It was earlier a kitchen-garden plant. Thereby it was spread beyond this area, for instance to N. and S. America and New Zealand.
