Syn.: C. nigritella Drej.

This species was described from the Aleutian Islands. Its taxonomy has been discussed (Hultén in Bot. Not. [Lund] 1943, p. 428-432; Hylander in Blyttia 22/1964, p. 100-106). It seems to be accepted that the populations in N. Scandinavia, Greenland and eastern N. America form one taxon, distinguished as C. stylosa var. nigritella Fem. The population in the N. Pacific region may differ slightly from the mentioned west-arctic population group.
