Syn.: Viscaria alpina (L.) G. Don fil.

This mainly arctic-montane species s. str. is restricted to Europe and W. Asia (at least one occurrence). It occurs irregularly within the hatched areas. The populations on Greenland and in northeastern N. America are distinguished as var. americana Fem. The species s. lat. belongs to the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 68 and map 49).
