The map shows the northern distribution limit of this very polymorphic and extremely widespread species. Intensely spread by man, this species s. lat. has an almost worldwide distribution. "It is one of the most cosmopolitic of all plants, which actually can be expected anywhere, except in the Arctic and Antarctic" (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 392), in the last-mentioned respect with a few exceptions of casual character.
