This Eurasiatic species has spread as a weed with agriculture within and outside the original range (probably C. and E. Europe and adjacent parts of Asia), for instance to Fennoscandia. It has become less frequent as a field weed in recent times. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 411.
