1466 Primula elatior (L.) Hill

This species is mainly restricted to C. and partly S. Europe, where four subspecies are distinguished according to Fl. Eur. 3/1972, p. 16, all occurring within the area of subsp. elatior. In additon subsp. pallasii (Lehm.) W. W. Sm. & Torr. occurs in Caucasus, C. Ural and C. Asiatic mountains. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978 map p. 336.
