1016 Saxifraga stellaris L.

Within this arctic-montane species subsp. stellaris is restricted to northeastern N. America, Greenland, lceland, the British lsles and Fennoscandia, and thus belongs to the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 110 and map 91). Subsp. alpigena Tem occurs in the mountains of C. and S. Europe. Further, two closely related species are mapped, viz. S. redowskii Adams (syn.: S. foliolosa R. Br. var. multiflora Hult.) in E. Asia and northwestern N. America and S. ferruginea Grah. in western and northwestern N. America. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 200.
