235 Festuca rubra L., arctic-montane types

The map shows the distribution of an arcticmontane group of F. rubra taxa. Among these taxa subsp. cryophila (Krecz. & Bobr.) Löve & Löve, identical or very closely related to subsp. richardsonii (Hook.) Hult., has a circumpolar distribution (Hultén, Circumpol. I, p. 64 and map 57B). Further, subsp. aucta (Krecz. & Bobr.) Hult. in the Pacific E. Asia and northwestern N. America and a few more or less well distinguished Asiatic species are mapped tentatively.
