This Eurasiatic and N. American species includes a few subspecies or varieties, e. g. subsp. obtusilobum (Rupr.) Claus. in northwestern N. America and NE. Asia (amphi-Beringian distribution). This species, perhaps easily overlooked, cannot in the present state of knowledge be considered a circumpolar plant, although it may tum out to be so after further investigations (cf. Hultén, Circumpol. I, p. 5).
