1842 Senecio nemorensis L.

This variable, Eurasiatic species has a disjunct distribution. The European population is divided into subsp. nemorensis (syn.: S. jacquinianus Rchb.), a mountain plant in C. and E. Europe, and subsp. fuchsii (C. C. Gmel.) Celak., a lowland plant in C. and S. Europe (Fl. Eur. 4/1976, p. 196). The population in the Caucasus is presented as S. propinquus Schischk. in Fl. SSSR 26/1961, p. 743. S. nemorensis occurs as an adventive in a few isolated places in N. Europe.
