Cochlearia officinalis

This widespread species s. lat. includes here three subspecies, viz. (1) subsp. officinalis occurring along the seashores from N. Norway to S. Spain and at some particular localities in C. Europe, for instance in the Alps, (2) subsp. arctica (Schlecht.) Hult. with a wide, circumpolar distribution (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 186, 383 f. and map 178) and (3) subsp. oblongifolia (DC.) Hult. in the Pacific area. C. officinalis is reported from the Falkland Islands, where it is probably introduced. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 181. For closely related taxa see no. 968.
