1612 Thymus serpyllum L.

This polymorphic and widespread species includes here several more or less distinct Asiatic taxa. Further, subsp. tanaensis (Hyl.) Jalas in northernmost Europe and T. praecox Opiz subsp. arcticus (E. Dur.) Jalas (syn.: T. drucei Ronniger) in W. Europe, Iceland and Greenland are mapped separately. The species (probably subsp. serpyllum) has been introduced into N. America and naturalized.
