1729 Litorella uniflora (L.) Asch.

This lake-shore species is one of totally three species in the genus. It occurs mainly in W., C. and N. Europe. A closely related American counterpart is L. americana Fem. in eastern N. America. The third species occur in southern S. America (Patagonia, Falkland Is.), viz. L. australis Griseb. Cf. world map in Meusel et al. 1978, p. 418.
