This arctic-montane species occurs in same restricted areas of Europe and N. America. As it is often misunderstood, its distribution is insufficiently known. Thus, the map should be regarded as preliminary. It is recorded among the amphi-atlantic plants by Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 194 and map 176.
