1601 Stachys arvensis L.

This species is considered to originate from the W. part of the Mediterranean region. From there it has spread northwards with agriculture and ships. It has also been introduced, for instance, into N. and S. America, Australia and New Zealand. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 375.
