Syn.: Orchis incarnata L., O. latifolia L. p. p.

This polymorphic species is widely distributed in Europe and parts of Asia. For Europe, Fl. Eur. 5/1980, p. 334 reports four subspecies (incl. subsp. incarnata throughout the range of the species). Subsp. cruenta (0. F. Mull.) P. D. Sell is mapped separately (no. 577). The distribution in especially the eastern part of the range is insufficiently known. Thus, the map is, at least partly, preliminary.
