345 Hierochloe odorata (L.) Beauv.
This widespread species complex has a circumpolar distribution (Hultén, Circumpol. I, p. 114 and map 106). G. Weimarck (Bot. Not. [Lund] 1971, p. 129ff.) recognizes a number of taxa occurring within Europe. Maps are there given for H. odorata subsp. odorata (amphi-atlantic, G. Weim. p. 139), subsp. baltica G. Weim. (Baltic region, G. Weim. p. 145), H. hirta (Schrank) Borbas subsp. hirta (N. and C. Europe, G. Weim. p. 148), subsp. arctica (Presl) G. Weim. (boreal circumpolar, G. Weim. p. 151), and H. repens (Host) Simonkai (eupontic, G. Weim. p. 156). The ranges of these taxa are included in the total area of H. odorata s. lat. shown on the present map. Another taxon within the complex, the C. and E. Asiatic H. odorata subsp. dahurica (Trin.) Printz, not treated by Weimarck (1971), is shown separately on the present map.
