1020 Saxifraga nelsoniana D. Don.

Within this polymorphic, arctic-subarctic, partly montane species several subspecies are distinguished. The following are mapped here, viz. (1) subsp. nelsoniana in the Kamchatka-Chukchi-Alaska area, (2) subsp. aestivalis (Fisch. & Mey.) Webb from NE. Russia to E. Siberia and in other parts of C. and E. Asia, (3) subsp. insularis (Hult.) Hult. in the Kuril and Aleutian Islands, (4) subsp. charlottae (Calder & Savile) Hult. is endemic to Queen Charlotte Islands and the adjacent mainland coast, (5) subsp. pacifica (Hult.) Hult. in the Pacific area of Alaska, and (6) subsp. porsildiana (Calder & Savile) Hult. in the inland of S. Alaska and adjacent territories, (7) subsp. cascadensis (Calder & Savile) Hult. with a disjunct distribution in the Queen Charlotte Islands and the Cascade Mts., and (8) subsp. reniformis (Ohwi) Hult. on Hokkaido and Sakhalin.
