Schoenoplectus lacustris
390 Scirpus lacustris L.
Syn.: Schoenoplectus lacustris (L.) Palla
This species forms together with closely related taxa a complex which, as the S. maritimus complex (no. 389), needs critical investigation (Hultén, Circumpol. I, p. 182). For S. tabernaemontani C. C. Gmel., see no. 391. S. lacustris occurs in most of Europe and N. Africa and eastwards through Asia, uncertain how far. In N. America it is replaced by S. acutus Muhl. Together with S. tabernaemontani these species show an almost circumpolar distribution (Hultén, op. cit., p. 182 and map 171).
