This mainly European species belongs to a group of closely related species (Fl. Eur. 2/1968, p. 30). The limit of its fairly common occurrence is tentatively drawn, partly according to Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 225. However, the closely related R. sherardii Davies (no. 1080) is omitted from this map, which alters the pattern for Scandinavia. Cf. also Meusel, l. cit.
