724 Stellaria media (L.) Vill.

This polymorphic species is extremely widespread. Originating from Eurasia it has been introduced into almost all parts of the world except the very arctic and arid areas. The subspecies neglecta and pallida, sometimes considered as species (but included in this map), are also mapped separately (nos. 725 and 726). With its present distribution S. media belongs to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 252 and map 243).
