The distribution of this originally Eurasiatic species is divided into one large European and one C. Asiatic part. The origin of the occurrence on S. Greenland is discussed (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 120). It is regarded as introduced into N. America and definitely so into New Zealand. It is reported among the amphi-atlantic plants (I. cit.).
