Cyperus flavescens
422 Cyperus flavescens L.
Syn.: Pycreus flavescens (L.) Rchb.
This widespread species occurs in Europe (except N) and adjacent parts of Africa and Asia. It is native in eastern and southeastern N. America (var. poaeformis [Pursh] Fem.) and probably so in C. and S. America, C. and S. Africa, India and China. It is considered to be introduced into Australia. It is reported among the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. I, p. 142 and map 133), although the distribution is amphi-atlantic rather than circumpolar. World map in Meusel et al. 1965, p. 58.
