Potentilla pensylvanica
1103 Potentilla pensylvanica L.
This polymorphic species has a disjunct distribution, especially in Eurasia. It belongs to a complex of taxa which does not seem to be clear as to taxonomy and nomenclature. For Europe, Fl. Eur. 2/1968, p. 40 reports three species, among these P. pensylvanica L. s. str. (syn.: P. strigosa Pall.). The closely related P. pectinata Raf. in N. America is here mapped together with P. pensylvanica (incl. P. strigosa sensu Rydb.). This complex has an almost circumpolar distribution.
