1701 Rhinanthus groenlandicus Chab.

This mainly arctic species includes here R. borealis (Stern.) Druce. As to the relation between R. groenlandicus and R. borealis, see Fl. Eur. 3/1972, p. 277, and the maps by A. Löve in Bot. Not. (Lund) 1950, p. 51, 52, and Meusel et al 1978, map p. 409. The upholding of these two taxa as separate species seems questionable. Moreover, it is scarcely appropriate to rank them as subspecies of R. minor (no. 1702), as this species probably does not occur as a native plant in N. America (cf. also Hultén in Ark. Bot., K. Vet. Ak., Stockh., 2:7 /1967, p. 119 f.). R. groenlandicus s. lat. is referred to the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 190 and map 172), but could also be recorded among the circumpolar plants with a large gap in Siberia (Hultén, Atlas 1950, p. 46, 47).
