This rather polymorphic species is widely distributed in Eurasia and N. America. None of the lower taxa are mapped separately. This species s. lat. belongs to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 76 and map 67). In some places it is extinct. There are several inter-glacial, glacial and late-glacial finds, probably more than those which are marked on the map. Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 130.
