This arctic-montane species occurs disjunctly in Europe and sparsely in W. Siberia. It also occurs in arctic mountainous areas in eastern N. America and on Greenland. Thus the species belongs to the amphi-atlantic plants (Hultén, Amphi-atl., p. 46 and map 28). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 82.
