This subarctic to boreal-montane species, which varies little, is widely distributed in Eurasia. The main type S. myrtilloides covers N. and partly C. Eurasia. A special type, var. manchurica Nakai, occurring in Manchuria and adjacent areas, and the counterpart to S. myrtilloides in N. America, S. pedicellaris Pursh., are also mapped.
