1376 Hippuris vulgaris L.

This variable aquatic plant is widely distributed in Eurasia and N. America. The closely related species H. tetraphylla L. fil. is not included in the map (see no. 1377). H. vulgaris belongs to the circumpolar plants (Hultén, Circumpol. Il, p. 122, 348 and map 114). It is native in S. America (Chile). Cf. also Meusel et al. 1978, map p. 302.
