Atlas of North European vascular plants
161 Iris spuria L.
The map shows the total range of this polymorphic, mainly European species and the closely related I. halophila Pall., in Fl. Eur. 5/1980, p. 89 distinguished as a subspecies. l. spuria seem to be extinct on the Danish islands. Spreading with culture may have happened in W. and C. Europe. From Asia Minor eastwards into C. Asia some very closely related taxa occur (cf. Fl. Eur. 1. cit., Fl. USSR 5, p. 401 f., and Meusel et al. 1965, map p. 102).
