The map shows the total ranges of several taxa, here of specific rank. However, the whole group might as well be considered as one species, C. mathioli L., including several lower taxa with more or less separate distribution. Here the following taxa are mapped, viz. C. mathioli L. s. str. in C. and NE. Europe, C. altaica A. Los. in N. and C. Siberia and Altai, C. brotheri Pax, C. himalaica A. Los. and C. turkestanica A. Los. in the C. Asiatic mountains and, finally, C. amurensis Fed., C. pekingensis (Richt.) A. Los. and C. sibirica Andrz. in E. Asia. The distribution limits are to some degree uncertain.
